I remember my first viewing of this Slasher masterpiece at the age of 8 at my Grandmother's house in Ohio. My Grandma would take me to a rental store called "Video Time" and they had the biggest selection of horror films I've ever seen to this day. We would visit every summer and stay about a month. I would go to Video Time... a lot. Most of my first viewings of horror films was on my Grandmother's old tube television. One night I rented The Burning and I was very excited. I remember just sitting there in the dark being hypnotized and cheering for the killer to kill every single teenager. That wasn't probably the best thing for me to watch at a young age but it has made me who I am today...which is...fucking crazy. This film has wonderful special effects and very good actors. In just about all 80's horror flicks they all lack acting, but every once in a while you get a gem like this slasher flick here. There is nothing new with the story but it does have a great atmosphere and chilling visuals. I recommend watching it on VHS if that this a possibility...or HD...just watch the fucking thing. After viewing this and The Shining in the same year I knew that I wanted to be a horror film director and nothing would stop me...and nothing has.
