Gangster flicks are a dime a dozen. Yes, there are some good flicks out there but the all run together for me. No other gangster film steps out of place than The Long Good Friday. Bob Hoskins and Helen Mirren display their unbelievable talents for us in this punch in the gut story. The Godfather, Scarface (1932), and The Long Good Friday set a bar with gangster films and you can see these three films have taken a toll on cinema today. This film has the love story, revenge story, and the rise and fall of characters.Bob Hoskins also gives (in my opinion) his best performance to date. Who knew that such a short man could be so fucking intimidating. Also, this film has an amazing score that rings in your head after it's bloody conclusion. Enjoy this real display of cinema and then tell your friends.
